Below is a video of three American boys/young men arguing with their school teacher about the pay gap between men and women. It's long (14 minutes) but well worth watching. The boys do a great job of staying calm and making clear arguments. The teacher (an older male) does not impress: he is not only poorly informed, he doesn't care for facts and is slow to grasp the arguments the boys make. The one school girl who tries to back up the teacher is also poorly informed on the issue. Enjoy!
Excellent. BTW Mark, you really should get onto Twitter, or at least Gab.ReplyDelete
This is why I think "teacher" should be the most reviled profession, worldwide. My mother was a teacher, and I grew up hearing 'insider' stories on teachers in several schools.ReplyDelete
It is my belief those who currently teach our children are guilty of crimes against humanity.
These boys, however, make me feel better about the years spent on activism.
What is remarkable is that these boys are thinking outside of the paradigm that completely encloses them. Schools, media, entertainment industry, corporations - the entire Establishment tells them the myth that women are underpaid, but here they are asking questions and thinking for themselves. This is what was remarkable about the Brexit vote and the Trump election too. Establishment propaganda is increasingly impotent. It is pervasive, but impotent. It reminds me of what Eastern European friends would tell me about Soviet propaganda - people learnt to think around it (and through it) and it ceased to have impact.ReplyDelete
Looks like it's been removed as it doesn't fit the agenda.ReplyDelete
Thanks for alerting me to this. The original video was removed but fortunately someone else had posted the same video which I've now linked to.Delete
