This call to manhood is understandable. Events in Cologne, in particular, showed that Western women cannot rely on the state for protection. Western women are vulnerable without the presence of traditionally masculine men in society.
One of the women seeking change is the Danish journalist Iben Thranholm. She speaks plainly in the attached video about what she believes needs to happen. It's worth watching the video but I've quoted some of her more choice comments below:
We need a sort of male revolution...Men need to take responsibility, to go back to the old male virtues, to defend the women, the children and the culture. It is unbalanced to have no masculine force in society...men have been brought up by women who want them to become women....There is a kind of order in this world and it is based on a complementarity between men and women.
A Canadian reporter, Faith Goldy, followed up on Iben Thranholm's video with an even more straight-talking one of her own. Again, her video is interesting as she pulls no punches in her call for men to re-masculinise - the following excerpts give a sense of what she is about:
Where are our heroes today?...we are in a testosterone recession...Today's feminists are more concerned with appearing xenophobic than actually protecting women...In destroying male hero virtues we have lost our balance in society...banning masculinity has been a failed experiment ...Hey men, here's a tip. Remove your pair from the feminist hands in which they are now held, reattach and revolt.
Finally, there is Swedish journalist, Ingrid Carlqvist, who left it at this:
I think there is so little aggression left in Swedish men (because of feminism) that they can no longer defend their families and their country. Let's hope I'm wrong on that!
I'll comment more on all this in tomorrow's post. I do think it's a positive development that there are women speaking out so clearly on this issue.
Men will defend, men will take responsibility?
ReplyDeleteYes. And women must obey. Be accountable, be subjectable to men for their actions and its consequences.
This is what must happen.
From what they are saying, I think these women would be more than happy for Western men to take the lead, and for women to respect the place of the masculine in society. But I don't think they have a "women must obey" mindset. Personally, too, I don't see why it's necessary. I would be happy just to see the beginning of the break up of the rainbow coalition that is lined up against white men.
DeleteWe need a sort of male revolution...Men need to take responsibility, to go back to the old male virtues, to defend the women
ReplyDeleteWhy should any man do this? Women have been throwing men under the bus for decades. Now, that it has backfired for them, women want men back. I say, "To hell with that". Women made their bed. They can lie in it. I will not defend a group of people who have been subverting myself and the rest of the male half of the species.
If these women really want men to defend them, they should be on their knees begging for it.
I think if they wanted male physical protection whilst still continuing on with an anti-male feminist politics I'd struggle as well to agree. But they are not doing that. These are the more conservative intellectual women, who are speaking out now in a very clear voice, that feminism has failed, that men should return to the masculine virtues and women to the feminine ones, and that the masculine must be respected as a necessary part of life and so on. This is potentially very significant, as up to now white men have been isolated by a "rainbow coalition" - this is one historic opportunity to put a dent in this coalition and to bring the talents of these women onto our side. Liberalism succeeded, at least initially, by working itself into a position of orthodoxy amongst the political class - those seeking to oppose it have been remarkably isolated. If the orthodoxy is beginning to break apart, then this is a very welcome development and it makes sense for us to encourage it.
DeleteThe conservative women need to help men rest the organs of education and the media away from the people who been so damaging to these values they now desire. They also need to stick their necks out more when attacking dysfunctional family formation like single motherhood. This is a seriously long term project and honestly I wouldn't know where to start. In the short term I think asking men to "man up" is futile. Certain new trends like MGTOW, the Red Pill, and MRA have helped inculcate a strong negative reaction to this type of trad-con signalling from women.
DeleteA perfect example
Delete"Hey look, another woman trying to shame men into compliance - that's, like, uh, totally new and unexpected. You know, something I've never seen before."
Snide little manlet Johntheother perfectly demonstrates the kind of problems we face
I think if they wanted male physical protection whilst still continuing on with an anti-male feminist politics I'd struggle as well to agree. But they are not doing that.
DeleteYes, they are doing that. This woman may be a conservative woman (but I really can't tell the difference between so called conservative women and feminists these days), but she's demanding protection for all women which includes everyone from rabid feminists to lukewarm feminists.
These are the more conservative intellectual women, who are speaking out now in a very clear voice, that feminism has failed, that men should return to the masculine virtues and women to the feminine ones,
Where have they been for the last 50 years? They only showed up when feminism bit them in their butts. This reeks of women putting their finger in the air and realizing which way the wind is blowing. It's obvious they don't care about men. The first thing they demand is that we die for them ("protect them"). I and many other men see right through what they so called conservative women are doing.
Conservative women are crypto-feminists and should be treated as such.
Too late. Women will just have to reap what they've sown. It's too late for them to ask men to change now, after having spent decades encouraging men to become what they are now.
ReplyDeleteSo they'll just have to suck it up and learn to enjoy the treatment they'll get from the imported brutes - it's what they've laid the groundwork for, after all. They deserve no sympathy whatsoever.
I hear you, but I think it's important not to blame women on the whole. It's really the elites (or the Cathedral) who have cynically fostered this ideology (cultural Marxism) to divide us.
DeleteAs our host notes, these women speaking out is indeed an encouraging development.
We need to fight. If each of us can reach some of the women around us who demonstate some receptivity to truth, we can help transform the culture.
These conservative women need to speak to their left-wing sisters at the same time. It is no enough to simply tell men to man up while all the demonization of men continues. Certainly, men need to positively express those parts of masculinity that have been derided for so long. But equally, the feminist Left needs to stop attacking those very same qualities. Until that point, I see no reason for men to change one whit.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with too late. I see women starting to stand up for men and that's great. I love these women. But I fear it's all too late. Men have walked away.
ReplyDelete"I would be happy just to see the beginning of the break up of the rainbow coalition that is lined up against white men."
ReplyDeleteThat's my take. I don't really see as primarily an issue about the feminisation of men, but about the vilification of white males.
As far as the female protection issue goes, masculine white men fear getting into conflict with minority males because they believe they will be on their own if they do so. In other words they don't believe that others whites (whether male or female) will back them up and they'll end up on the end of a mob beating.
Similarly, a lot of successful middle class men are so focused on getting ahead in a tight job market, where the diversity mantra is constantly pushed, that they won't dare say anything politically incorrect.
It's the combination of anti-racism, femininism, and cultural relativism that is paralysing white men. Japanese men also face issues about masculinity but they still stand up for their culture and national interests against foreigners.
"Why should any man do this?"
ReplyDelete"but she's demanding protection for all women which includes everyone from rabid feminists to lukewarm feminists."
"Too late. Women will just have to reap what they've sown"
"Until that point, I see no reason for men to change one whit."
This is such a childish mindset. It genuinely sounds like the complaints of a grumpy teen. On the flip-side, if your (teen?) daughter didn't listen to advice and decided down a dark alley, would you simply grunt and say she deserve whatever she got for being so insolent? Or would you try to protect her despite the stupidity?
"Certain new trends like MGTOW, the Red Pill.... (etc)"
Yes, you've got to love this approach where you try to play by their game, acting as another minority when they already dominate the field. It isn't constructive, that's for sure. The blacks hate the gays (generally speaking), the gays hate the trannies, the trannies hate the genuine feminists who question the authenticity of a bloke in a dress.
I can't be bothered ranting about this Red Pill rubbish. Confused people can find a lot of 'answers' on the net late at night (tumblr being a good exmaple). crystal healing and right-wing conspiracy sites are other good sources.
"If each of us can reach some of the women around us who demonstate some receptivity to truth"
Men too. You would be surprised how far you can get with people by persistently discussing something while keeping your cool.
Late last year I started bringing up abortion with my friends (who are all around their mid-twenties, and understandably left leaning) and after very long talks with each one, armed with logic and basic morality, at least two changed their position and most of the rest were left seriously questioning it.
Something in me respects something in Cory Bernadi, which I find surprising, but on the whole the Right (and especially conservatives) do a really shit job of the charm offensive or even arguing their case half the time.
Granted it can be hard to argue your case when even the most timid and innocuous
advert is burnt at the stake as a witch.
Final comment: isn't it funny to be quoting and presenting a clip from a Russian soft-power TV channel, critical of eurozone/(NATO) policies?
Interesting times.
Mark quotes Iben Thranholm: "There is a kind of order in this world and it is based on a complementarity between men and women."
ReplyDeleteShe's lamenting what was, depending on her age, perhaps what she has only heard or read about. What we have now is an unnatural disorder. What she cites here, is personal and visceral, but is only one important element of the universal natural order of being, which she and others have long denied and defied. They're going to grow increasingly afraid. They're going to start sensing real danger beyond the tree line. They're going to temporarily revist their premises. Then, somehow, modern liberals will adjust to this too. This is how modern liberalism, the treat of all threats, continues to work. Every distress that these women feel is a direct result of all of our modern liberal inclinations.
Some new and perhaps unexpected public policy will re-arrange us in ways that will make these kinds of females relax back into their unnatural state. Men are not going to directly confront and put down this kind of threat. That's impossible in our modern liberal world. Men will fashion some kind work-around, just like they have been doing.
I have no expectation that anything good or masculine is going to emerge from this. White men no longer appear capable or tempted to sacrifice themselves in the jihad necessary for the destruction of modern liberalism.
Some new and perhaps unexpected public policy will re-arrange us in ways that will make these kinds of females relax back into their unnatural state.
DeleteYes, that's likely. But you can see from all this how opportunities to be heard keep arising. But you have to be ready - i.e. have things in place - to be heard. I would hope, for instance, that the German identitarians manage to lift a notch out of all of this and that they then work hard to keep their gains if things do go quiet again for a period of time.
I just watched the video. RT's Anissa Naouai seemed (who knows?) genuinely baffled by and/or resistent to much of what Iben Thranholm says. Thranholm: "It's good to have strong women and female values, but if it's unbalanced, and you have no masculine force in a society, it's going to break down." Naouai: "Yes, but the mass rapes and violence shouldn't be happening in the first place! These are guest, essentially, whom Europe has welcomed."
ReplyDeleteThen Naouai asked Thranholm if she isn't blaming the victims. Tranholm explains that women can't seem to protect themselves. Naoumi's reaction: "should they have to protect themselves against mass rape on the streets of their country; their home?"
That is a mind boggling disconnect. Naouai may be playing a role. I can't know. But she reacts to Tranholm's thinking with questions that reveal modern liberal thinking, if not her own. She's representing the modern liberal feminist (male and female) vision of how the world should work, as she denies how it actually is. They're not going to let go of it. They will not, in sufficent numbers, concede that such a profound and eventually fatal disconnect exists.
White men are a shrinking, whimpering five percent of the Earth's population. They haven't a snowball's chance in hell of resisting or reversing the larger demographic tsunomi, or of regaining masculine control over themselves, much less an actual authority within society, culture and family.
Too much of the modern world will have to be destroyed before it can be properly re-ordered.
Think about the depth of the contradiction: Are we to get excited when a few women suggest that men should re-order THEIR disordered world?
It is encouraging that these women are not just focusing narrowly on immigration (which I strongly believe is a losing strategy). They're focusing on the underlying malaise. Finally at least a handful of women are starting to see where feminism is taking us.
ReplyDeleteMen, it appears, will continue to mark time and occupy themselves otherwise, until a sufficient number of male and female feminist temporarily re-authorize them and organize them to re-order selected elements of the disorded feminist world. Feminists worked hard to get to this state. They won't easily backtrack. Being raped by migrants is a sudden shock to their system. But, is it really - as they have radically defined it - that much worse than being raped regularly by your husband? Isn't "all sex is rape" a part of the feminist canon?
ReplyDeleteIs this anything more than a tease at a pause, or a temporary bait-and-switch provoked by this new, unanticipated element of an otherwise desirable alien invasion? How interested are they actually, in the idea of - even temporarily - conceding even the limited, necessary authority back to men; authority that they have long and earnestly denied to men? This is surely only a temporarily, unprincipled exception; so far, it seems, that only a small number of females are willing to make. I doubt seriously that the institution of feminism will hesitate to revoke any limited authority, as soon as a state interest and solution is in hand.
Good comment. I guess my response would be this: that such moments would be, if we were organised enough, a great opportunity to attract support from those women (and they do exist even if in small numbers) who are open to our ideas.
DeleteYesterday, I heard someone (discussing the rapes and lack of reaction by white men) say something along the lines of; "the natural order appears to be actually changing", meaning, I guess, doubt that it transcends our bio-mechanical sacks of meat, and must only be a purely material, unguided element of our evolving genes. The overwhelming power of modern liberalism over so many aspects of our lives, gives credence to the idea that what we're seeing manifest as modern liberalism, is do to the rise of recessive traits which are somehow increasingly being naturally selected within the white male. What, after an acceptence or denial of a Creator, is more basic to our humanity than our alignment or conflict with the now shifting and turbulant male/female, man/woman order of being?
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I have pondered this a bit myself. You think of Scandinavian men who were once feared warriors, but who now act in the opposite way - yet genetically they haven't changed. If genes were fixed and completely dominated human behaviour, this shouldn't be possible. So I tend to believe the recent theories about genetics that allow for at least some flexibility in their expression. This fits with our own lived experience - that we have the potential to develop in different directions (obviously within the constraints or outer limits of our given nature).
DeleteAt the risk of ...
ReplyDeletePerhaps this is some sort of a routine evolutionary "test" of the outer limits of our given nature (prefect phrase), which will naturally re-order again. It is too incredibly rapid in evo terms; calling for the magic of the Darwinian "cladogenesis" or the "cataclysmic event".
It's obvious that all of the options have always been there in our genes. The actual test, is the one that men have always been subjected to, a test of the will.
Thank you sir.
