Cafe has a speech code

There's a vegan café at Monash University here in Melbourne which has this policy:

Once you adopt the liberal principle that our predetermined biological sex has to be made not to matter, this is the kind of thing you end up with.

Remember, liberals believe that telling people not to speak in terms of sex, e.g. by discouraging terms like "brother" or "ladies", is making us free - to most of us it will seem like an intrusive denial of a basic aspect of human life.

  1. Here is something that you may find relevant:

Don't worry, it is all in English, after the 30 seconds introduction. It is a Danish-Canadian former feminist that really hammers away at what modern feminism has created. She brings up the fact that the demasculinisation of western men is what has opened up the gates for Islam. In my view, that is 100% correct.

Some of it is from a Swedish perspective, but I would say that it is all relevant for most western states. If you have 20 thousand or 100 thousand Muslims arriving per year may have an impact on how fast the effects become significant, but in a medium term perspective (say 30-50 years), it does not really matter.

Feminism leads to islamization and it is therefore no surprise that the country with the most acute issues, Sweden, is also the most feminized. But be very, very aware that the Anglo countries, including Australia, seems to be on very much the same path regarding feminization. Islamization will follow......

    1. EuroSwede, thanks for the link, it's really interesting. There are a few things I disagree with, such as her claim that feminism was a good thing until it was hijacked by cultural Marxism. However, she is smart enough to know that it is not a good thing for Western women if their own men are emasculated by feminism. She returns repeatedly to this theme. It's good too that she realises that the end point of contemporary politics is the dissolving of the West as a distinct entity.

    2. I am glad that you like it!

Of course I am also with you on your objections, but I still find it to be a very powerful message, coming from a former feminist. It is, in my opinion, explicit and to the point on some issues that are both central and and not much discussed.

  2. Jordan Peterson, a well respected psychologist and academic at the University of Toronto, is under attack for rejecting this PC coercion in Canada.

    1. Thanks. The Peterson story is important, I'll post on it soon.

  3. Yes that will go over well "Good morning, human! Yes, I too am a human and thank you for wishing me a good morning in return!"

    1. Yes, that is what approved speech would be like. And what is the effect? It abstracts us as individuals - it strips us down to an abstracted sameness, rather than rejoicing in the reality of our embodiment as men and women.

  4. Hello ladies does not have to refer to only one 'sex'...

  5. So all "traditionalists" do is passively observe the latest insanity. No wonder the Left keeps winning if the Right can't even bring itself to tear a paper sign down.

    1. Dexter, things are changing in this regard too. I do think there's a more activist traditionalist movement emerging, e.g. the Identitarians in Germany. Even here in Melbourne, we hold meetings, put up posters, letterbox, attend protests etc.

Tearing the sign down would, in the current climate, get you arrested.

The best response is probably ridicule. Never underestimate the power of ridicule.

  6. Amazing how liberalism's attempts to make us free always involve more rules for us to follow.

    1. Yep, I doubt if having to "check your pronouns" and "check for gendered words" and "check your privilege" etc. in every interaction would strike most people as an exercise in freedom.
