Red Ted's low act

I doubt if there has ever been a worse leader of the Victorian Liberal Party than Red Ted Baillieu.

I'll briefly summarise the current situation. There has been a spate of attacks on Indian students in Melbourne. The Indian Government and media have blamed the racism of Anglo-Australians for the attacks. However, in all of the high profile cases, there has been hardly an Anglo-Australian in sight. In fact, in the most recent cases, the perpetrators turned out to be Indians themselves.

For instance, in January an Indian man claimed that a group of racist men had poured petrol on him and set him alight in the Melbourne suburb of Essendon. The Indian media reacted predictably:

Victoria police say, “there is no reason at this stage to consider this racially motivated.” If the statement had been calculated to enrage, it could hardly have been more provocatively phrased ...

Canberra has been far behind the curve on this issue right from the start ... When you set a person on fire that is like a statement. It goes far beyond a crime of opportunity. The act of burning is likely to be interpreted as a wider symbol of intolerance and ethnic cleansing. If that happens we can say goodbye to rational debate and practical, sober responses. Canberra’s obtuse, insensitive attitude is laying the ground for serious damage to bilateral ties.

It turned out that Mr Singh accidentally burned himself while torching his car for an insurance claim.

Do these false claims of racist violence perpetrated by Anglos on Asians matter much? They matter a great deal. There is a significant public opinion in nations like India and China which is dangerously hostile to white Australians. If you visit the chat forums of the Chinese and Indian media, you quickly get a sense of what is at stake.

Here, for instance, are just a few of the comments I collected from a brief visit to the chat forum of the China Daily. They're in response to stories not only about attacks on Asian students by white Australians but about the "stolen generations":

Comment 1: SUBHUMAN. Seriously, Anglos don't belong in the 21st century. Their war crimes throughout history show they belong in cages, perhaps in a zoo as feed for the animals ... Anglos are illegal immigrants from Schleswig Holstein ... They are the lowest form of crap there is ...

Comment 2: In terms of evolution, these white Australians display streaks of atavism ... So much was given them by providence, a mere smidgeon of humanity was expected of these white Australians, so little they give in return. A disgusting people!

Comment 3: It beggars belief. What kind of crap would separate all the children from their parents? What kind of turd? What kind of excrement?

Comment 4: every single anglo sucks

Comment 5: white Australians are rather good at character assassination, dissembling and, sometimes, just downright lying. Then again, what else can they do when presented with factual accounts of their racist nature but lie? A sad, sad nation peopled by a sadly misguided people. Petty minded and mean spirited.

Comment 6: Australia is a very nice place, except that Australians live there. If the Australians were deported to, say, Nigeria, and then Asians moved into Australia, it would be a good and nice place and productive too.

We ought to take the existence of this kind of sentiment seriously. They are the kind of views which might be used to justify harsh treatment against us. And we are a relatively small community with a declining position in our own country and facing the growing power of nations like China and India.

So what do we call a white Australian who reinforces the prejudices against us? Who unfairly blames the attacks on Indian students on white racism? Who places at some considerable risk the fate of our children and grandchildren?

Enter Red Ted Baillieu, the Liberal Party leader. He made a speech to the Australia India Business Council, in which he promoted the idea that racists in Melbourne were "creating fear and terror for many who live in our community".

What a foolish and low act for an Australian politician. The Labor Party Premier, Mr Brumby, made the correct response:

The Premier hit back, with his spokeswoman saying Mr Baillieu should know better than to use divisive and inflammatory comments that he knows are not true. "Mr Baillieu's deceptive treatment of this issue makes things worse not better," spokeswoman Fiona Macrae said.

What might be motivating Ted Baillieu? Political opportunism springs to mind. He has been making a big pitch to Indian voters here in Melbourne, visiting temples and even writing his own regular column in one of the local Indian newspapers. Perhaps he thinks the future of the Liberal Party lies with the growing Indian electorate.

If so, he is acting at our expense. When there is already a public opinion in powerful nations that Anglo Australians are subhumans who ought to be shipped out, you don't go about reinforcing such prejudices to bolster your own credentials.

How can we expect those in other nations to have a better regard for us, when our own "elite" is so quick to condemn us?

What are we to make, for instance, of Melbourne Anglican bishop, Philip Huggins, asking for forgiveness on our behalf for "our prejudice and indifference" toward people from other countries, "especially Indians" who are "oppressed in our land"? Why would a Christian bishop mimic the secular leftists in assigning whites the role of oppressors? Why would he fuel a sense of racial grievance against whites, when this racial grievance looms so dangerously on the horizon? It's grossly irresponsible and lacking in conscience toward his white parishioners.

And what about the writers of the popular soapie Home & Away, whose Australia Day episode had this plot line:

on Australia Day a bunch of hooligans wearing flags assault the new Muslim character in town, call him a terrorist, tell him to go home and then, when he hides in the Diner with his friends, they burn down the Diner.

So the white Australian political class is happy to present a vicious image of rank and file Australians to the world, which then feeds into a dangerously hostile attitude toward us in overseas countries.

In this circumstance, special pleading isn't going to do much to help. Talking about how you as an individual Anglo aren't racist isn't going to have much of an effect. You'll just be accused of dissembling.

Things will only change when we put our own house in order. We need to call out those individuals, like Ted Baillieu, who seek personal advantage at the expense of their own community. We need to identify this not as high class paternalism but as low, unconscionable behaviour.

  1. Is there any evidence that Anglos are systematically attacking Indians?

My own guess is that most Indians students are Hindus, while there is a significant population of Pakistanis and others in Melbourne, Sydney etc, who are Muslims.

    Any correlation here?

  2. Great stuff from the China Daily blog. I loved these two particularly: "So much was given them by providence", and "Australia is a very nice place, except that Australians live there. If the Australians were deported to, say, Nigeria, and then Asians moved into Australia, it would be a good and nice place and productive too".

Damn, whites are so lucky. Somehow, we got all the nice countries that everybody wants to live in. I guess we just have a genius for figuring out where all the nice places are first, getting to them before other folks, and leaving all the nasty Third World places for everybody else. (Odd how little demand there is to migrate to these "nice places" before whitey gets there and turns them into racist hell-holes, though. I guess it's just the Non-White Man's Burden to reluctantly leave home and save these nice places from whitey.)

You make a very important point here that deserves wider attention: the ongoing groveling of our "leaders" - everywhere in the West, not just Australia - constitutes a real and growing danger to whites. Funny how the same people who want to criminalize every "incorrect" opinion of Anglos as criminal "hate speech" - because the merest thinking of "racist" thoughts exposes minorities to terrible danger - are the same people who cannot recognize the ugly atmosphere that their pathological, chronic groveling promotes. As a Californian recently commented on another blog, describing the increasingly hostile behavior of "minorities" toward whites there, egged on by officialdom: "These people smell blood".

And it really ain't funny anymore.

  3. Is there any evidence that Anglos are systematically attacking Indians?

No. The police no longer release statistical information on the ethnicity of perpetrators. However, when the most high profile cases have been investigated, the perpetrators have rarely been Anglo.

For instance, there was a murder in country Australia of an Indian for which other Indians have now been charged.

I don't think in Melbourne that the Indian students are being attacked on religious grounds either. The thing is that lots of people are being attacked. Young Anglo men have suffered the worst of the violence, with quite a number of stabbing deaths.

So it's inevitable, statistically, that some Indians will be attacked too. Many of the Indians here are young males who work late at night in convenience stores and as taxi drivers. They live and work in some of the more violent multicultural areas of Melbourne and they often travel alone to work.

  4. These people smell blood

Yes, you pick up on this at those Indian and Chinese forums. There is an awareness that the balance of power is changing in their favour and amongst some there's a desire to see us get our "comeuppance", in part for things that happened generations ago during colonial times.

When you combine this with a range of comments suggesting that we aren't properly human and don't deserve to be here - well, it's dangerous stuff.

Given the nature of the attacks, and the allegations that follow, surely it is time to let the truth speak for itself.

    ReplyDelete
  7. The allegations are that attacks are based on the ethnicity of the victim, then it surely is right that the ethnicity of the attackers should be released.

Let us suppose that Jihadi attacks were taking place all round the world, and they were being perpetrated by Buddhists or Christians, and Islam and Muslims were being quite unfairly blamed for the attacks, because the Koran states that Muslims should conduct a Jihad, as well as the police were not releasing the identity of the attackers.

Wouldnt it be right and proper that the police released the religion of the terrorists?

"It turned out that Mr Singh accidentally burned himself while torching his car for an insurance claim."

This fellow should be charged and not just with insurance fraud.

I doubt Baillieu is doing this for political advantage (largely) I think he's a trade pussy who's terrified of having the revenue hit. Kowtow over here Sir.

I was in Malaysia recently and I was chatting to an Indian cabbie, who said, "You know those Indian students are a pain in the arse and had it coming". I had to tell him its all a beat up and not the kind he meant.

There is NO doubt that is about the rising influence of India and it is them flexing their muscle. Hmmm maybe we in the west should build muscle too and stop pissing about with things like climate crap. (General public approval with this stance is what explains Abbott's rise in the polls I think).

The politicians have a responsibility to correct the record.

  10. I would advise any Indians who don't want to run the risk of being beaten up by Lebanese or fellow Indians to not live here.

Oh by the way, I heard that an Indian student was recently beaten up in India. I think its an outrage.

  12. What we are witnessing in this, the early part of the 21st century, is the acceleration of a process which has been gathering momentum since the mid 1980s.

We are living through the inevitable setting of the sun on the political, economic and demographic hegemony of not just white Australians but all European people's worldwide. A process taking place in both Eurabia and the new world.

What makes this process far more painful than it otherwise would have been is the traitorous behaviour of our so-called ruling elite. The, Hawkes, the Rudds, the Howards, the Ballieus, the Brumbys.

All this hoo haa about "attacks on Indians" in the media is just a smokescreen to change the narrative of our surrender to one where the evil white colonialists finally got their comeuppance for stealing the lands of the downtrodden oppressed masses of the third world.

It's hardly surprising (although still somewhat disappointing) when our elected leaders like Baillieu also choose to put in the boot.

As the changing tide of demography washes over places like Melbourne, we can invariably expect them to "switch sides" as they struggle to cling on to power. This will transpire for a short time until they themselves are inevitably replaced by the newcomers whose votes they seek and whose favours they court.

    Nice name, huh?

But anyway, I think there's something uniquely perverse about this, which Mr. Richardson alludes to later on in the article.

    Here's the timeline

    1.) Singh wants cash.
    2.) Singh tries fraud.
    3.) Singh's plan fails.
    4.) Singh blames Whitey.

Now, I get steps 1 through 3. Criminal, yes. Stupid, very (insurance fraud? How is that a good plan??). But at least they're coherent: everyone wants cash, stealing looks easy, but crime usually fails. Check.

But step 4? Blame Whitey? What?? I mean which one of these doesn't belong, you know?

And that's the disturbing part. This wasn't some crazy leftist plotting to pin something on whitey. This was just a dumb crook. But now even dumb crooks understand whitey is easy pickings.

Now combine Mr. Singh's criminality with his countrymen's animus, and yes, that's a problem. Mr. Richardson's concern is well founded.

  15. Also,

I know this thought experiment has been done many times, but yet, so few seem to learn from it, so here goes again.

Attention Anon Contrarian and any other lurking lefties:

Re-read the comments of the Chinese but this time substitute "Jew" for "Australian." Doesn't it remind you of some very unsavory websites? Nazi propaganda? And what have those unsavory websites and Nazis recommended re: the Jews?

Now try replacing "Australians" with "Blacks." Huh. How long do you think a comment like that would stay up on, say, the comments section of the NYTimes or The Age? And what would the rationale be for taking it down?

But it's different, lefties will say: whites are the majority and those other groups are minorities, which makes them vulnerable in a way that whites aren't.

And we all know how determined the Left is to keep it that way...

So, I wonder: what happens to whites when we are just as vulnerable demographically as the erstwhile minorities? What protects us then?

Assuming they're not just stupid, either the Lefties are secret white supremacists and think we're somehow invulnerable supermen who can defend ourselves against any number of hostile nonwhites...

Or they're lying and know very well what awaits us.

  20. In this world at the moment, there is no need for mass immigration, or immigration of any sort, as most people have a place to live freely. If they can't live freely in their own country where they are a majority, it is their own fault. They should not be allowed to come to the free West, and then impose their unfree culture, Islam for instance.

If you read Al Jazeera ever, their white American colomnist is quick to bang the drum about how racist white Americans are (it is only ever white racists.) Al Jazeera also reports about how violently racist white Australians are, repeating these slurs.

They(whatever we decide to call them) are beating the war drum intentionally and against their own people and culture. They do not need to be am ajority in the West in order to comletely destroy it.

  24. If we see Leftism as rebellion against the White Man, and I think we can. Then we can also see it along essentially similar lines to rebellion against Daddy. We rebel against Daddy, like Lefties, because we don't have power, don't like being told what to do, have a sense of perceived injustice etc. However, at the same time we want what Daddy provides, security and economic benefit so its always an awkard situation. (When in trouble its still, Daddy/authority help me! I could be betraying my middle class roots here ;)) Looked at in this way Leftism can be seen as a confused complaint against existing authority and not very much more, or rebellion against Daddy.

When Lefties actually do get to take over we see stupidity, appalling acts and idiotic viciousness. Just as when kids are in charge of the classroom, only worse. They also can't really run anything so when things go badly Daddy has to be reserected to take the blame. Communism can't be effective unless every single country is communist, so its actually the western powers fault we're having trouble. Its not Cubas fault its the Americans because they won't trade with them. There are still too many "Daddies" in our society that need to be hunted out etc.

Like rebellions against Daddy everywhere its still largely seen as a kind of harmless youthful phase. More symbolic than actual. We might be rebelling against Daddy but he has the power so whats the harm really? (Apart from the millions of dead, whoops).

Accordingly we can see how the comments of foreigners can be seen in a similar way. "All whiteys must die", This isn't "meant" to be taken literally its a kind youthful hijinx/rebellious phase. With perhaps a degree of frustration thrown in. Something along the lines of Achmed the Dead Terrorist's "I kill you!!", yeah keep trying kid. Its not that such statements aren't disconcerting its just that they aren't made with immediate power and so are largely something to be ignored or viewed as a something that probably wouldn't be said if they had power. Or so the thinking goes.

Is the white man (still) Daddy? I think, in many respects, yes. Walking down the streets of Malaysia I was impressed by the cache of being a white person. Not in the sense that this was a white person who had money and others wanted some, just in the simple acknowledgement that you were from a developed/advanced country and you were part of what made that country developed/advanced. (Obviously this would be less so if you were carrying on like a drunk pork chop, though conspicuous consumption is something to be envied). If you walked around with a sense that, I'm white, this is what I've/we've achieved and will continue to achieve. Without a sense that this was undeserved or through exploitation or because whites are/were inherently better, you were respected and that was that.

The Malays may have been wound up by Islam to attack the mythical white man etc but when they actually saw one they thought, hmmm there's a bit of Daddy in this guy, I'd better not mess with him and also maybe he's/they're not so bad after all.

Don't forget that for all the bitching and whining Westerners are still highly regarded and generally seen as the "good guys". (Eg In Haiti, The US are here, thank goodness!!)

The Asians (Chinese in Malaysia) on the other hand weren't so intimidated/impressed by the white man. However, they certainly still were to a strong degree. We're not done yet lads. Life like in everything is competition. If we pull our finger out and we'll smoke these bastards.

  25. "If immigration is stopped, then all this nonsense of "racism" etc will stop as well."

As Lawrence Auster pointed out, the more non-European immigrants are admitted into a white Western country, the more we hear about how terribly "racist" the host society is.

    Auster:

"The failure of the nonwhite population to fit into the society is blamed on the society itself, rather than on the fact that they were admitted in the first place. The white majority starts to be demonized as racist and is systematically silenced, while its civilization is attacked as unrepresentative and begins to be systematically dismantled. The great irony is that the admission of nonwhites is supposed to prove that the society is nonracist and egalitarian, yet the more nonwhites are admitted, the more racist and unequal the society seems."

There is also a reluctance on the part of Australia's Anglophone European majority to face the fact that they are a demographically vulnerable group threatened by the desire of hundreds of millions of Asians to live in the uniquely attractive society that Anglos have created.

No rational group interested in demographic and cultural self-preservation would tolerate mass immigration on its current scale.

Something to do with self castigation? But seriously look a what kind of white men are lefties. Those who felt marginalised before, those who wouldn't have been considered that much chop before (the "sensitive" types) and the aristocrats who made a special grab for power and self righteousness. Even the left wing white men will laugh along to "get whitey" humour from a comedian.

Also everyone else is seen in contrast to white men. Working class white men, still white but working class so that's ok. Women, not men, even if they're powerful. Black men not white. Say for instance Colin Powell had been the first Black President and a Republican the script would have been that he wasn't really black., a sell out. To be "Black" you have to be in the anti-white party ie the left. Who was Australia's first black federal politician? Bonner. Hardly anyone knows that though because he was in the Liberal (establishment) party. Poor Bonner was bewitched by the white man ... etc.

    Great insight, Jesse.

You know I was reading Samuel Johnson's "Parental Tyranny" in The Rambler #148 this evening, and he makes a very interesting comparison between the tyranny of the monarch and the tyranny of the father.

And why? He writes, "Capricious injunctions, partial decisions, unequal allotments, distributions of reward...by fancy, and punishment regulated by...the humour of the judge, are too frequent where no power is known but that of the father."

In other words, victims of monarchical and paternal abuse are vulnerable only because they "don't have power," they're "told what to do," and they've suffered "injustice," etc.

Classic leftist reasoning (confusing coming from Johnson, huh?).

  30. Anon writes,

"How then do you explain the fact that Leftism was created by the White Man"

Well, every white man has had a father, right? And most of us have rebelled at one time or another. Well, the leftist white men are still rebelling.

One more Johnson quote for the night:

"It will, I believe, be found invariably true that learning was never decried by any learned man..." (The Adventurer, #85, "The Role of Scholar").

If we say "authority" in place of "learning," I don't think we change Johnson's principle, and we'll have an answer to Anon's question.

Many of those white men who have supported leftism have been men who lust after the power of their betters.

That's not the only explanation, of course. Many leftist white men, like I myself a few years ago, think leftism is moral and right. But rebellion usually has something to do with it.

  33. Hmm - are the Indians looking mid/long-term to incorporate Australia into their sphere of influence, an Indosphere? Certainly the Chinese would be, were it not for their very low overseas birth rates. The Indians don't have that problem, and if they're seriously looking to challenge China and whatever's left of the Anglosphere in the second half of the twenty-first century, they are going to need influence over resource-rich areas like Australia and South Africa, not just traditional fiefs like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

The problem is that Australia's political elites do not have the will to resist the Third World takeover of Australia. On the contrary, they are actively giving countries such as China and India the green-light to colonise Australia.

Somewhere along the line, our political establishment decided that is was illegitimate for Australia to continue to exist as what it had historically been - a white, Western nation with a dominant Anglo-Celtic majority - and needed to be transmogrified into a multicultural, multiracial, polyglot hodgepodge inhabited primarily by Asian and other non-European peoples.

However if the view is that we're in such strife as to say we're doomed I don't think that that's a helpful stance to take. Its only through action that the West will be maintained/enhanced/restored.

If we are being poorly directed by the elite we're also being poorly served by a majority who are largely caught in passivity. We can't just blame the big end of town.

In Australia I am a citizen and that means I am the master. If my country fails its as much my responsibility as anyone else's.

I was doing Army training the week before the Cronulla riot (that was an anti Muslim protest/riot in Australia) and I saw soldiers eagerly passing around text messages (which was how news of the coming protest was passed) saying its “about time”. I think Australians are sick of this immigration idiocy. I would say even Kerry O’brien and the hard left are getting sick of it. To garner this desire I think we will need positive solutions.

It does seem to have become more permissible for some on on the left to criticise high immigration on environmental grounds. Jesse, I hope you're right on this, but I need to see more evidence.

    DP11,

Yes, I just saw that story. Once again, the perpetrators of violence against an Indian student are other Indians.

  40. The problem is that Australia's political elites do not have the will to resist the Third World takeover of Australia. On the contrary, they are actively giving countries such as China and India the green-light to colonise Australia.

To quote former Macquarie University professor Andrew Fraser:

"Given the relentless and revolutionary assault on their historic national identity, white Australians now face a life-or-death struggle to preserve their homeland. Whether effective resistance to their displacement and dispossession can be mounted is another question. Unlike other racial, ethnic or religious groups well-equipped to practice the politics of identity, white Australians lack a strong, cohesive sense of ethnic solidarity. As a consequence, ordinary Australians favouring a moratorium on non-white immigration cannot count on effective leadership or support from their co-ethnics among political, intellectual and corporate elites. On the contrary, our still predominantly Anglo-Australian rulers are indifferent; some profit from, and others actually take pride in their active collaboration with the Third World colonization of Australia. None of the major parties, indeed, not one member of the Commonwealth Parliament, offers citizens the option of voting to defend and nurture Australia's Anglo-European identity. The problem, in short, is clear: The Australian nation is bereft of a responsible ruling class."

  41. It does seem to have become more permissible for some on on the left to criticise high immigration on environmental grounds..

It seems the debate about immigration had shifted since the 1980s and 1990s. Back then, most public opposition to immigration was on cultural grounds. Now it seems all opposition to immigration is limited to environmental grounds.

I suspect this shift is due to the profound demographic changes Australia has experienced in the last few decades. It was still possible to argue against multiculturalism and mass non-European immigration back in the 1980s and even 1990s. As late as 1988, Australia's population was still over 90 percent European, 75 percent Anglo-Celtic. The immigration-driven demographic revolution fueling the multicultural movement had not yet swept across the land. However, two decades later, the damage is well and truly done. The prodigious changes that have occurred in Australia's ethnic composition over the last two decades mean that multiculturalism is now an unfortunate reality that we have to deal with.

That is not to say that ordinary Australians of Anglo-Celtic descent should simply resign themselves to being demographically inundated by a human tsunami from the Third World. It simply means that we have to adopt the group-rights mentality fostered by multiculturalism, no matter how loathsome we may find it to be. If Anglo-Celtic Australians are now just one more ethnocultural group in Australia, as the multiculturalists say we are, then surely we are entitled to the same group rights that ethnic and racial minorities enjoy. We should be entitled to pursue our own selfish ethnic and racial interests without fear of being demonised as "racists". We need to stand up for ourselves and assert our collective group rights. If it's acceptable for minorities to shamelessly compete for influence and power, then it should be perfectly acceptable for us as well.

Hmmm, not happy. To get in the pen like that is to become just another ethnic competitor and deny the fact that we are more rightful citizens.

  44. Anyone who comes to Australia, works, earns, pays the taxes, becomes an Australian... legally. If post that, because of a difference in colour, language, accent or even in name, such people are treated harshly, its against basic human rights. There are 3rd generation 'Italians' in Australia who are still called Italians and not accepted as Australians. What does that tell you? 3rd generation here!! This family has contributed to the growth and development of Australia in every way. I know of Britishers(Caucasians/whites at that) who have migrated to Australia, and never been accepted in by the society and have left after struggling to become an integral part of this country. How many people who migrate to this place from others, are non contributors to its development? The Australian market still lacks the skills to take it ahead, and as Jesse has pointed out, he sees more of Chinese students in the university, actually educating themselves and developing the skills. And inspite of all teh contributions, if people are then tagged Indian/Chinese/Itlaian/Brit..... what does that tell you about the 'inclusive' nature of the 'anglo'- aussies?????

  45. Hi Huh,

    You said:

"Chinese students in the university, actually educating themselves and developing the skills. And inspite of all the contributions, if people are then tagged Indian/Chinese/Itlaian/Brit..... what does that tell you about the 'inclusive' nature of the 'anglo'- aussies?????"

I don't know if they want to contribute all that much. Sure they're here getting an education and many would want to stay here because of the higher standard of living, the fact that Australia is less overcrowded than China etc but do they actually want to contribute? Or rather advance themselves?

One test as far as I can see is how many migrants are in various contributory aspects of society. Such as the Army. We have so few ethnic people in the Army compared to their number in society. We have a couple of Asian guys in my company, one African guy, we had one Lebanese guy for a while. That's it mate. One of the Asian guys actually plays it up that he's one of the only Asians by calling himself 'Asian Dave". We also had one half African half Malaya guy, (I forgot) who is colossally respected and trying out for the special forces. Now surely if migrants were/are so keen to contribute to Australia we'd see them in large numbers in things like the Army. After all one of the biggest buzzes of the Army is the feel that you're contributing. There are better ways to earn money.

What do we know? Migrants largely speak their own language at every opportunity. Nothing really wrong with that but many can hardly speak English. I've heard the pride with which migrants who really did want to fit in/participate in Australia tell of how quickly they learnt and mastered English.

If you asked a recent migrant if they considered themselves say Chinese or Australian, I think you'd know what the answer would be.

Now obviously advancing yourself and contributing can coexist. But it may not. If immigrants come in very large numbers they may well feel entitled not to even bother to try to adapt themselves to Australia. They can just keep up their own ways here and change nothing. The only contribution is that they work and pay some tax. I've also heard the pride with which a Chinese person described how he minised buisness tax. If you're only in Australia to make it big, improve your standard of living etc, it makes sense that you’d see this place as an opportunity to be taken advantage of rather than something to be contributed to.

  46. "I'm sitting here at Macquarie University in Sydney surrounded by International students, predominantly Chinese. The white population here is a small minority. I had no idea the uni sector was this bad."

Yes, it really is that bad, as Dr. Peter Wilkinson revealed in his eye-opening book The Howard Legacy.

    From Amren:

Australia is importing hundreds of thousands of smart, hard-working people who are streaming into the nation’s best universities and working their way to the top. Mass immigration at its best? No. “In 1994 the acerbic Le Kuan Yew, then Prime Minister of Singapore, forecast that Australians were destined to be the poor white trash of Asia,” writes Peter Wilkinson in The Howard Legacy. “Today one can say that white Australians are destined to be the poor trash of Australia.”

These successful immigrants are almost all Asians—mainly Chinese—and white Australians have begun to resent their increasing dominance. As columnist Michael Duffy asked in the Sydney Morning Herald, “Is it perhaps the first time in history that a nation’s elite have invited another group to come in and replace it?”

Peter Wilkinson, a former president of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and now editor of The Independent Australian, has written what is probably the first book-length treatment of this replacement. He has no resentment against Asians, pointing out that they are only exploiting an opportunity, just as the Chinese have done everywhere in Southeast Asia. It is white politicians who have sold out their children’s birthright who are the targets of Dr. Wilkinson’s anger.

Let's get real, shall we? These Chinese students are simply using Australia's universities as a backdoor into the country. They are not driven by some altruistic desire to contribute to Australia. Rather, they are only interested in what they can personally exploit from Australia.

As for Australia lacking the skills to "get ahead", we have been a fully-developed, industrialised, prosperous country since the beginning of the 20th Century, and we managed to achieve this all without the help of non-European immigrants.

They don't even seem to like Australia or Australianess. They appreciate a more relaxed lifestyle but they don't try very hard to mix do they. And don't say its because Aussies are such meanies, give me a break. Who else would put up with this crap but people in the West?

They like Australia's wealth and the economic opportunities available here, that's about it. They have little interest in Australian people, culture or history. As we can see from some of the comments on the China Daily blog, many hold Australia's European-descended population in contempt, viewing them as little more than subhuman squatters who deserve to be deported and replaced by Asians.

  51. There are 3rd generation 'Italians' in Australia who are still called Italians and not accepted as Australians

And often it is because they call themselves "Italians" and not "Australians".

They are happy to point out that they might have been born here, but they are Greek, Yugoslavian (now Serbs, Croats or Bosnians) or Turks or Lebs or proudly wogs.

This was my experience back in the 80s, and it's so much worse now.

There was an article on one of the tabloid shows a few years back about immigrants not wanting to learn Australian ways. Sorry I don't have a link.

In this piece, a Chinese business woman said straight out that Chinese people come here and like to have a piece of China. They have their newspapers, local businesses in their own language and never need to deal with white Aussies.

What a great way to endear yourself to the host nation.

As for the racist comments on the China Daily blog, well that's no surprise.
