Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, a Marshal of France, walked across the Swedish border and was instantly Swedish and wholly devoted to Swedish interests, even though he never learned to speak the language. His family reigns to this day, without any problems.

King Charles XIII of Sweden did much better for his people by adopting an upright foreigner as his heir than the British electorate and political class did by elevating Tony Blair to the Prime Ministership. How is that? For fans of democracy, including me, that cries out for explanation.Titus Didius Tacitusnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832901.post-80327641548925010352013-12-27T12:08:02.647+11:002013-12-27T12:08:02.647+11:00He's right. For many generations, white monarchs of white nations cherished their peoples and did not destroy them as democratically elected governments now do.

Marie Antoinette, the Austrian, was as concerned with the French, their welfare and their morals, as any French-born queen could have been. The recent moves of the French parliament to destroy heterosexual marriage and the white family and replace the French nation with imported non-white Muslims would have horrified her and been inexplicable to her.

For those who like democracy and support it as the best system, this is a disappointing result, to put it mildly.Titus Didius Tacitusnoreply@blogger.com
