Ideology is man made and progressive. Tradition is not progressive, it is for all time and unchangeable. Throughout the world all traditional societies are based upon religion. The East is based upon Hinduism and its Buddhist and Sikh offshoots, the European continent and Russia based upon Christianity and the near East (Middle East) based upon Islam.

Birzer cannot be so poorly educated and of such limited world view that he cannot understand that, hence a more realistic assessment of him is that he is misrepresenting himself as "traditionalist and Conservative" and is a fraud.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832901.post-76224419304495397582018-01-21T06:21:21.321+11:002018-01-21T06:21:21.321+11:00Open borders is ethnic dilution which is genocide....Open borders is ethnic dilution which is genocide. In the West, we are being genocided, albeit softly. This paper is a comprehensive approach to cataloguing it all: The Many Forms of Genocide: Hard and Soft. 3rd Rev.
https://www.academia.edu/34936383/The_Many_Forms_of_Genocide_Hard_and_Soft._4th_Rev
In regards to Classical Antiquity, the Doric Greek city-states of Crete and Sparta did not allow immigration. They had a law called the xenelasia. It allowed visitors, but one couldn't stay there. Xenophon, even when he moved to Sparta, lived in one of its environs, not in the village-state. Immigration was forbidden; emigration as well. Foreign literature was not allowed.
W.LindsayWheelerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06236577164127792348noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832901.post-37774693702439048132018-01-20T13:34:50.697+11:002018-01-20T13:34:50.697+11:00I agree with you that he holds to a radical libera...I agree with you that he holds to a radical liberal ideology of American exceptionalism, and that this ideology promotes the destruction of traditional societies.

And yet he sees himself as a traditionalist and a conservative. One way this is possible is if he identifies America and the Western tradition with a radical liberal ideology - then the tradition he would be trying to conserve would be radical liberalism.

It's such an odd position to take, though. He is lending his conservative instincts to the defence of an ideology that is radically dissolving of society - that ultimately creates what is being termed an "anticulture".

He is trying to conserve the ideology that is dragging the West under, rather than trying to conserve the real, historic, Western communities and cultures.Mark Richardsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15961688379656119701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832901.post-90510335040272338272018-01-20T13:16:21.412+11:002018-01-20T13:16:21.412+11:00Yes, if I recall correctly, it was the failure of ...Yes, if I recall correctly, it was the failure of the Romans to control the influx of Goths across its borders that triggered the collapse.Mark Richardsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15961688379656119701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6832901.post-64806825697953915312018-01-19T05:52:38.741+11:002018-01-19T05:52:38.741+11:00The article proves quite clearly that the "Am...The article proves quite clearly that the "American Conservative" is another liberal propaganda magazine with no conservatism. Open borders is the antithesis of conservativism and brings about, quite intentionally, the destruction of traditional societies. The article illustrates the falsification of history and obvious lies and deceptions with which the author is attempting to deceive the naive reader. Whilst his one truthful comment is that Europe historically was united as Chirstendom, he lies by his absurd claim that this religious identity dissolved other differences. The briefest knowledge of the countries of Europe reveals their profound differences which were never erased by the Church and have still never been erased by the EU despite the latter's best attempts.

The ideology he is trying to push is the radical liberal "exceptionalism" of America, the exceptional nation of progressive enlightenment leading the world to chaos. Mass invasions by the Germanic peoples and the Huns left society in tatters. Worse to come was the rise of Islam, which prevented Byzantium from reuniting the Empire. The root cause, in my amateur opinion, was related to the demographic decline of the Roman patrician elite due to its dependence on slave labor.

Mr. Birzer is headed down that same path, that of the rent-seeking elite wrapping their greed in the cloak of high-minded idealism. He's no better than National Review's Kevin D. Williamson, who told the working class communities to "U-Haul or die".Timnoreply@blogger.com
