But I think the distinction between leftist wrecker mindset and the McCain / Bolt mindset is a distinction without a difference.

I'm reminded of what my father learned, the hard way, during his work with and for Bob Santamaria's National Civic Council movement. Santamaria emphasised again and again to Dad (and to the others involved) that the primary and most dangerous enemies were not the Communists. The Communists were not only bleeding obvious in their thuggish gambits, but in most cases, conveniently stupid as well.

No, the real threat came not from the Communists but from their useful idiots. In those days the useful idiots included most of the Protestant clergy; a large proportion of the Catholic clergy from the objectively pro-Soviet Paul VI downward; and the secular snivel-libertarians at home who invariably derided any conservative movement which meant business as "fascist" and "McCarthyist".

So when I read the undeniable fact that McCain and Bolt are not themselves conscious leftist wreckers, I think: "It doesn't matter a damn. World Communism might've imploded, but still McCain and Bolt do the left's dirty work, and for this, they deserve all the punishment they get."Arnold I. Did you see the interview of Mr. Cheney and his lesbian daughter (why in the world didn't that raise red flags 8 years ago?) tonight on Fox?

Essentially, Cheney repeated Miss McCain's argument: its every homosexual's "right" to "marry".

I also thought Cheney's critique of Obama was illuminating. To Cheney, Obama's mistakes are primarily tactical. He should be showing respect but with strength. To cite an example of how that strategy worked under the Bush admin., Cheney reported that in the last few weeks four women have been elected to the Kuwaiti Parliament. That's his standard of progress.

Cheney is as much on-board with equalitarianism as the next liberal. So it is notable that Meghan McCain identifies her guiding principle as "the equality of freedom."

Second, when liberals express the egalitarian credo, you will frequently see them using phrases just like this one by McCain:

"the question is really a simple one: Do the rights and privileges we offer citizens include everyone in our country, or only some of us?" [Italics added.]

Ahh, yes, the principle that rules all other principles, the principle around which society is to be organized, "is really a simple one..."

So, society is not a highly complex thing, requiring much knowledge and accumulated wisdom to maintain. Human institutions, human culture, civilization itself, are not complex things, because they all really boil down to a "really simple" question: do all people have equal freedom?

So: the governance of human life, by a "really simple" principle, the practical effect of which is to wipe out the institutions, cultures, societies that consistently practice it. Such is liberalism.Lawrence Austerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10849202044663080776noreply@blogger.com
